Yamaha R7 Custom Data Logger
Просмотров 1426 месяцев назад
A project I'm working on that uses a low cost microcontroller with a capacitive touch screen to act as a data logger for the Yamaha R7. It is still early stages, but happy with the progress so far. Rough design for the prototype case is done, printed circuit board is done, and all the wiring for the motorcycle itself. I'm extremely happy with how responsive it is for such low cost hardware.

Great video. I have a 2023 klr650 adventure model with the factory rack and plastic bags. Does Trish sell brackets or a mounting plate that will work with those factory bag rails?
I’m not 100% sure reach out to Rocky Mountain ATV and they should be able to answer that. They are pretty universal so I suspect you should be able to make them work. Thanks for watching.
Planning on doing this on my drz in August. As a man with a 2 gallon tank, I felt your anxiety whole heartedly. I will be getting a larger tank beforehand.
You’ll have fun on the northern sections with the DRZ for sure. You definitely start hitting more remote areas up there to so don’t pass a gas station 😂 have fun and thanks for watching
I’ve been thinking of doing this route for a while now, and after watching this, I think I’ll have to finally just do it. What time of year did you go? Man you had some crap weather! 😄 Great video!
Definitely one worth doing. I don’t remember exactly what month it was but it was early spring. I obviously wouldn’t recommend that 😂 unless you just want a story to tell. I’d say mid to late June would be a good time or in the fall like late August or September. That would be much dryer and warmer. Best of luck and I think you’ll have a great time.
@@kdemotorsports Thanks!
When I saw how slow he was going and knew he was going to fall. Momentum is your friend when you're off road
It is long overdue but I wanted to thank Dave for the amazing and time consuming work he did to put this excellent review of our trip together. He captured all the experiences and emotions we all felt. Great to be able to relive the trip...though there are parts I would prefer to forget. 🙂
Enjoyed your video. helped in planning my COBDR coming up this July. Outfitting my Tuareg for the journey, plus getting my self in shape. I am aware of the higher altitude and what it does to your strength. Hope we can make all the passes on the journey.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching. Best of luck on your trip.
Looks like a miserable time, pass….
Is there any link to buy it?
Given the tank rings are bike specific I didn’t provide a link. You can get them on Amazon, RockyMounyain ATV, and most other motorcycle retailers. Be sure to set your year, make, and model so you get the ring that fits.
Great video, thx a ton.
You’re welcome thanks for watching
Oh boy! Going down that quick into the pass doesn’t bode well!
Great real world practical comparison. Leaning toward the large for my 24 Transalp, but tough call on silver or black. Bike is blk, but silver seems more traditional never fuss with painting scrapes or abrasion. Thanks for review, subscribed.
Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching and subscribing. I have moved to soft luggage now hopefully I’ll get a chance to put together a review of the Reckless 80 system. If you’re considering soft luggage it is a good system but nothing beats the protection of hard luggage and ease of packing/unpacking them.
Your video has inspired me to try this route this year. Hopefully less of that wet stuff when I go haha. Thanks for posting!
That’s fantastic I’m glad it inspired you and I’m confident you’ll enjoy the route it is a great one.
Nice footage!
Thank you and thanks for watching
At first i thought it was an R15 Version 4 😂😂😂
I didn’t even know what that was had to look it up 😂
They look similar isn’t🤣🤣
No contest. Had both and the KTM wins hands down. Buy it (950)asap if you can find a good one. Be warned you will never want to sell it again.
I wonder how may riders get bobbled up and go over the edge?
Nice. I don't have a camp chair. Looks like my stuff will fit the smaller box.
Can’t go wrong with the smaller boxes if they work for your needs. Thanks for watching.
what cruise control do you have?
That was the one from www.mccruise.com/en-us
I have an identical KLR!
They don’t callem the Rocky Mountains because of the trees!
Good video. It would be nice to get more of the bike in shot and less of the back wall though!
@1:12 the reason for the crash is you let the engine speed go too low. The key to riding this terrain is keep your RPMs up (2500 to 4000) and slip the clutch. Also, the bike will naturally stand up if you keep moving, momentum is your friend. You can not trials ride that terrain unless you have great balance skills. You MUST keep moving above a crawl. Look farther ahead, stop looking at your front tire. Always keep your focus 15 to 30 feet ahead to plan where to put your front tire.
My thinking is it doesn't matter if its worth it and as long as you're happy with it then that's good enough.
This is the best video I have watched so far! You guys did great….! I was on the edge of my seat watching Black bear pass! I’m headed out to ride this in two weeks with a couple friends. I’m taking my Honda 450, and going to attempt this with one arm 😬 so will see how it goes. Thank you again for your video!
Thank you for watching and good luck on your trip. I love your positive attitude and I’ll be rooting for you!
The sealed battery is a hot tip. I might go with the reservoir cage, as well. I want my 23 Adventure to be as bomb-proof as possible. Thanks!
You’re welcome thanks for watching and enjoy the bike
Most people dont know how good a trail bike the 230f is.
Agreed. Thanks for watching.
Your camera needs stability. I quickly shut you off. Nausea.
Awesome idea using a miter saw stand. You’ve helped tremendously with your input. Thank you for sharing.
Glad it helped you out. Thanks for watching.
I’m honestly checking out your shop as much as the panniers.. looks great! I have the same Milwaukee chest..but not 3 of ‘em! Gonna watch your other Vids just to check out your shop ;)
Thanks that is actually the “old” setup. Still working on the new one. The Milwaukee took boxes stayed but with the new layout got rid of one roller cabinet and added a large top box in its place. Thanks for watching!
Will this bag work well with the Yamaha xsr900?
I’m not sure I haven’t had a chance to check out the xsr900 if they make an adapter that fits it should work though.
I bought one but I can’t find where the key is
Where it is or where it goes? The place for the key is right behind the number plate.
Here's to wrong turns and good company !
I bought a 230 new in 2019. Sometimes I wish I got a bigger bike, but when I get on the trails I realize that this bike is perfect for off-road. Not too heavy at all and big enough for an adult weight 150 to 160 pounds. With a few upgrades it can be capable of being a dual sport.
Having the garmin and the phone is best,, I don't use the garmin too often as it is an add on for my bike. the paid version works great and I can share any route with one of my students, they really like that.
Road the trail twice last year. Those puddles in the woods are still there :) I went solo too, was nervous about hitting a rock, or sliding in some mud and dumping it in there.
It’s a great route. I’m sure especially in the spring those puddles are a regular appearance. Congrats on your ride and thanks for watching!
Really! You shipped your bikes out. Pussy's could've at least towed them out there. Stay in the city! City boy's.
how come itchy boots had no problems that the critics all say there is?
I’m not sure who itchy boots is. Critics always find something negative to say. From my exposure to this motorcycle it is definitely a capable little bike. Just have to know what it is going in. I think if you do then you’ll be happy with it and enjoy it.
You’re always going to have critics and naysayers and people that are going to tell you that you won’t, that you can’t, that you shouldn’t. Most of those people are the people that didn’t, that wouldn’t, that couldn’t. Don’t be defined by outside sources. You go after your dreams
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Great job on the video! Thanks for sharing, looks like you guys had an awesome trip.
Thanks and thank you for watching. It was certainly a trip with lasting memories which is after all what it’s about.
What is the handle bar height at top of grips when level?
I think I will stick with my little xt250, I’d be falling a lot for sure.
Thank you for the video
You’re welcome thanks for watching.
Great video!
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Nice review by the way! Thanks
Thank you and thanks for watching and commenting.
How much view of the TFT will the bag block when you’re riding? If it does. Thanks
I don’t remember the bag blocking any of the view to the TFT. However that probably depends on height and how much of that height is your upper body vs inseam. Thanks for watching.
Wisconsin has the TWAT. Iowa has the TIT. There is no adventure in Iowa.
Is blue like advanced?
Yes MotoVid uses colors instead of beginner, intermediate and advanced. But yes Blue would be equivalent to advanced at other organizations.
Narrator's voice is a mix between Ben Stein and Gordy's dad from the Stand By Me movie.
I hope you’ve got that audio working when we get to Gingerman, ‘cause I want to hear your comments when I pull alongside you in turn one using 100% motor and 0% skill. :-)
I wouldn’t have it any other way. 😂
Ha ha, 9k? Fast forward 2022 and I can't even find a KLR out the door for under 8K. Good list of mods though. I had a similar build a while back but found hard boxes really had too much drag for highway use.
Yeah the market is crazy right now. I later switched to soft luggage but long after the KLR. Thanks for watching.
